With ever increasing energy costs and a desire to lessen our impact on the earth it makes sense to heat our water naturally, with the sun's energy. Solar hot water can lower your hot water energy bill by up to 70% and reduce your greenhouse gas emissions.
We offer the Apricus solar hot water system. This system uses the latest solar thermal technology, incorporating evacuated tubes, to more efficiently heat water. Compared to flat panel collector systems, the Apricus solar tube collectors are round and passively track the sun all day, providing stable heat output. Because it is not solely dependent on direct sunlight it works during all seasons and is even efficient in cloudy and snowy conditions - the vacuum insulated evacuated tubes have thick glass-wool insulation within the manifold. The design of the Apricus system is light weight and allows wind to pass between the tubes. With an average system weighing around 120 kg, the light weight manifold ensures there will be no strain on your roof or fixtures.
Throughout the day, water circulates from the solar tube collectors to a water storage tank, gradually heating up the water. The storage tank for the solar hot water system will replace your current electric or gas water heater. We generally recommend placing the new tank as close as possible to the solar tube collectors, however, it can be placed in the same position as the previous one if you prefer.
